Hello all My other 9mm is a MRI/IWI Baby Desert Eagle (AKA Jericho 941), made in Israel, full size 4.5" barrel, polymer frame version. It's a bit longer both in grip and length than my SP2022, but not as wide. Comes with Two 15-rd magazines, and both brass & nylon brushes plus a plastic jag.......nice added bennie. I took it to a smith to have the DA trigger worked on, as it is quite stiff and heavy (12+lbs) even after about 250 dry fires (using a snap cap). The SA is short, smooth, and sweet - about 3.5 lbs. Have not had a chance to fire it yet, as I wanted to get that DA trigger smoothed out first. I don't have the expertise to take it apart blind myself, as I cannot find a detailed strip guide. It is a very handsome piece, and had great reviews. Very anxious to try it and I'll let you know. Here are some pics, including a pic of the BDE and my SP022 so you can compare.

Call me crazy but I think the 2022 is "meaner" looking. Something about the 2022 makes it look like a ruthless gun. It's not a pretty gun (but the p220 Equinox is!) it's aggressive to me, it's like go ahead come in my house and I'll show you what time it is.

both are beautiful firearms. how heavy is the BDE with a fully loaded mag in comparison to the sp2022 fully loaded?

A friend used to have the full size .50 caliber one in stainless but I never got to shoot it.

Nick, I'll have to weigh both with loaded mags when I get the BDE back from the 'smith. Specs say that with empty mags the BDE is 30.5 oz and the 2022 is 29.0 oz. Interesting that the BDE is slightly heavier but is slimmer than the 2022. It is built VERY solidly. The slide is interesting, as it "rides it's rails" on the inside rather than the outside of the frame.

that is something interesting to look into like you said, since the BDE is slimmer then the 2022. Could you post a pic of the slides side by side for comparison? maybe the little bit of weight is distributed amongst the pistol in little places here and there?

I'll give the pics a try, Nick, when I get the BDE back. I'll have to use my wife's high-priced digital camera, because mine is lousy for close-ups. While the BDE is slimmer all around than the SP2022, with an all polymer frame (at least I think so), keep in mind too that the BDE has a 4.5" barrel vs the 3.9" barrel in the SP2022. that would add some additional weight.

sounds good! and the barrel length is probably where the weight is, i didnt even think about the different lengths. good observation
