Hello all
Just received a combination LED light and Green Laser for my SP2022 9mm someone at SigTalk recommended. It's the NcSTAR unit model AQPTFLG, quick mount on the 2022 Picatinny rail. Got it thru Amazon for $58 plus shipping (I also ordered a UpLULA 9mm to 45 Universal pistal mag loader/unloader in same order to save shipping and my thumb - another story). The laser or light end are interchangable - just screw on and off. Of course you can sight in the GREEN laser (easier to see than the red ones) for elev and windage. Unit takes one CR123A lithium battery, which is included along with an Allen wrench for adjustments. The quick mount truly is, and works very well. Only potential drawbacks I notice are (1) the ON/OFF is a horizontal left to right slide vs a "click", so could potentially turn the unit on when it is holstered, and (2) the temperature operating range of 59 to 95 degF (may not work outside this range), but since I'd use it in my home I would hope the temp would fall in there. But, overall, a great value for the money if you want to take the Scottish route for a laser-light combo.

I used to have a laser on mine, but I took it off after I ran the hard to find and expensive button batteries down when it turned on when I put in in my case. If I ever get a dedicated night stand handgun I will intall it on that, but since I use my 2022 for my EDC it would interfere with my holster and I'd be back to searching for batteries. BTW mine was a stingray sr1 by armalaser. Very slim profile but has the slider switch also.

That's a pretty awesome buy, I hope I don't wear out my batteries too quick on mine. Nice review GEOBOB!

Geobob,
From your review of the NcStar Green Laser, I decided to get one myself! I did not get the combination Light/Laser, but just the Green Laser with quick disconnect feature. I also got mine from Amazon. com for $44.95 and free shipping.
I have always had an aversion to battery powered stuff for my firearms, but feel this laser was priced very well and the SP2022 .40 S&W will mostly be used at the range and for home defense. I do like the laser being machined from aluminum and not plastic. I think NcStar may have a winner with this laser. Once I get it and try it out, I will post some info on how it works!
I read a couple of reviews about the laser not fitting some compact and sub-compact pistols. The NcStar website clearly stated that the laser did not fit that particular type pistol/s! I always do a little reading before I buy too!
Thanks for your review!!!!

I have never been a proponent of the NcStar line of scopes, but I did read a write-up on the new Green Laser with the Flashlight and without the Flashlight, and what I read was they are very good!!! Looks like NcStar has a winner with them. I am hoping mine will arrive this week, but probably won't be here until next week.

Guys,
With my computer problem and work, I finally remebered to post that the Green Laser arrived this past Monday. I was surprised how nice looking the NcStar laser is! Machining of the aluminum housing is great. The Quick Latched locks up very tightly with zero movement. It took a few seconds to adjust the laser to my sights. During the daylight hours, I can see the green "dot" perfectly at approx. 60 yds. The only negative thing I can find about the unit is it is a little larger than anticipated, but it is a keeper!!!!! I found this one at Amazon.com for $44.95 and free shipping.

Pretty sweet deal! Maybe I will get one to help me learn to shoot. Don't think that is the way to do it but at least I would have a good laser/light combo.

flashman,
The laser on a handgun has never been my "cup of tea", but for a house pistol, I felt the laser may help if there were someone in the house. I have been thru combat courses when clearing a house and all the things going thru your mind made the laser attractive, especially the price.
When the laser is on, you can be looking around and listening, and still keep the laser dot in your sight to be quickly moved where needed. I know my house and don't feel I need the flashlight, but the laser dot zeroed for 10 yds will put the bullet in the kill zone.

What abwehr states is my thinking for home defense. I practice walking the house in the dark with a slim flashight in my left hand for dim light. What I do is find a "target" and practice "point and shoot" using the green laser dot on the target without fully bringing the SP2022 up for normal sighting. I'm thinking that quick reactio and targeting is desirable in a HD situation, and that laser really helps do that.

Sorry for being slightly off topic, but I just picked up a new NcStar tac light for my SP in 9mm, and it simply won't fit. The vendor said it might be a tight fit, but I can't even get it to slide over in the slightest. Are you guys having similar issues with the laser/light combo?

What do you mean it won't slide. Is it for a picatinny rail? Is your SigPro a recent (new) build. Does your light/laser have the quick disconnect feature? This may sound stupid but did you loosen up the mount enough to allow it to fit? The vendor probably meant the length being a tight fit not the width of the rail mount. Please provide more info so we can help you better.

It should loosen up enough by unscrewing the qr lever way out then installing light, then screw back in a little at a time while flipping the lever between turns until it grabs the rail tight when flipped. Sort of like the quick adjustment on a moutain bike seat. If you can try and post pics because I am only guessing on how your light adjusts. Hopefully I can assist you further.
