hey guys.. i have 2 silicone cloths.. one is Hoppe's, one is Kleen (sp?) Bore.. The Hoppe's feels just like a normal cloth, does not leave a 'shine' on anything. It is dry, does not even shine my fingers. The Kleen Bore is very wet.. coats anything it touches with a very thick coat of silicone. It almost looks like i took the slide and just sprayed silicone all over it and left it at that.
both are brand new. Is the Hoppe's cloth bad? is the Kleen Bore too wet?
First time using Silicone cloths, normally my rifles just get a very light gun oil coating from a rag around the barrel and action. Just want to make sure im doing it right on the SP2022.

I have a birchwood casey silicone rag that appears to by dry but it does leave a sheen once you rub it on the gun a couple times. I am not sure about the 2 you have. Shouldn't hurt your nitron finish or any other part of your gun. Silicone rags are good for fishing equipment and several other items that are subject to rust or corrosion. The label on the silicone rag packaging should list anything that is not compatable. You should be good to go. My personal preference I just like to leave a film of hoppes elite gun oil on my shotgun since it is just the traditional blue finish and the slide of my wife's Bersa since it is just blued and not coated stainless. Your 2022 has a nitron coated stainless steel slide and a wipe down with a silicone rag should be all you need and the hammer, trigger, slide release, and decocker may need a little more care because they are not stainless and are subject to rusting. I had some rust appear on my slide release after sweating on it during my 2 day vacation in hot an humid Galveston, Texas but that was my fault for not wiping it down at the end of the day when I returned to the motel room after sweating all day. If you are really concerned about it you can just wipe down with oil like you do your rifles. You won't hurt anything. Try Breakfree CLP.

I use a Kleen-Bore brand silicone cloth and it hasn't hurt the finish. Nitron is pretty tough anyways. The only thing that would really hurt it is abrasions and over time holster wear.
Just make sure not to get any solvents on the plastic frame. Some of them can etch plastic.

I've been using an Outer's kit that came with the silicone cloth's and I've had zero issues. But generally I only use those on the interior of the slide and barrel. I wipe my slide down with an old terry cloth.
