Hello all - I tested some Federal HST 9mm JHP 124 and 147 gr with my 709 Slim at the range today. I shot the rounds through two layers of jeans, then three one-gallon jugs of bentonite slurry (a drilling clay that forms a gelatine-like substance), then a water jug, and retrieved the bullets. Fired from about 9 ft away. Very impressive expansion! It's possible that not going through 4-5 layers of plastic might result in less "lay-back" of the petals so the rounds would actully be wider. Of note, the fabric did not clog the hollow point and prevent expansion. Here are some pictures:
