Hello all
Decided I need to get a dremel for polishing, etc. but know nothing about them. Can you all please share your thoughts on good models of dremels, and models and makes of polishing kits/accessories - wheels, rouge, pads, etc. Particularly for use in working small parts of our weapons as well as larger, flat surfaces. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I have the basic dremel from about 10 years ago. As for accessories, I have a detachable router base, and the standard accessories that came with the kit. There are a number of different cutting wheels and grinding disk and cutting tools that can be purchased seperately from a larger hobby shop such as Hobby Lobby or Micheals. I usually buy the individual cutters as I find the need for them. I also got a precision router base I purcased through Stewart MacDonald for a guitar project I was working on. Long story short is you can find Dremels with the large assortment of accessories or just the Dremels by themselves and pick up just the accessories you need. It basically is personal preference. I have even seen Dremels that have flexable shafts for more of an industrial use. If you buy the larger Dremel kits that have the standard Dremel and about 30 pc accessory kit, your bases will be just about covered. Just a little side note that a Dremel on full speed is probably around 20,000+ rpms and even though they are high speed, they have very little torque so it is best just let the tool do the work and not apply much pressure. Hope this helps you Geo.
