I hope that someday I'm able to get a drop-in 9mm barrel for my 2022 in 40SW. I've seen no documentation that I can just drop in the 9mm 2022 barrel as it is.

My understanding is that the 9mm mags fit in to the .40 no problem, there is a .357 sig kit you can get.

Well, dropping a 9mm barrel in a 40 slide may not keep the 9mm primer aligned with the firing pin, that's my concern. Sticking a 9mm mag into a 40 gun is the easy part.
But you gotta admit, having a 40sw 2022, and able to drop in a barrel and mag and go 9mm for cheaper range use, would be great. I do that with the Glock 23 and it's a real cost saver.

I'll go you one better....wish they had a .22 conversion kit for the 2022 9mm - even cheaper to shoot at the range!

My wish is for some Hogue G10 extreme grips, I love the way they look.

the 40/357 barrels will fit, but it takes work (according to the guys at the sigpro shop in Epping), so much so that it makes more sense to just buy another SP in the caliber of choice. Conversion only makes sense (from a financial standpoint) for the 40 cal. The conversion barrel in .357 is around 130 buxx, if memory serves me. Also, converting a 9 into a 40 would be irreversible. So, here's your excuse to go and buy another one. You're welcome.

I talked to Sig and apparently you can easily drop in a 9mm barrel into a .40sw gun. The other way around is NOT the case, however. I also know you can load 9mm into the 40/357 magazine (in fact, you'll get 12 rounds in it). Your results may vary, but it looks like converting a 40 to 9 is as simple as the barrel swap.

Eric, if this is true, then this is BIG! Why am I not seeing anything about this on the net anywhere?

I did hear somewhere that the 9mm round does fit in the 40 mag though.

<http://lundestudio.com/SigProFAQ/>
Discusses barrel interchange, 9mm .40 mag compatibility etc. Sig Pro info applies to the 2022. Just about the The only part that does not interchange is the spring that holds the take down pin / slide release in.
.40 and 9mm do work in the opposite mag, but may cause problems if loaded to full capacity. Never tried more than 6 or so rounds. Done it, yes on purpose.
I think the locking notch on the .40 barrel / slide is wider. I have not tried a 9 barrel in the .40 slide.

Hmm. Says that the 9mm barrel hood width is narrower that the 40's. That makes me think that barrel to slide lockup won't be tight. Have you tried that part?
I did go in the closet an loaded up a 40/357 mag with 9mm, and it did seem to work fine.

I had the 2340 out and tried 9mm barrel fit earlier. The 9mm barrel tang that fits into the slot at the the breach face is not as wide as the 40. Lock up seemed tight and it may work, but I am not going to try it.
